Air passengers to get special treatment

Vijayawada: Pilgrims arriving in the city through roadways and railways may face a hard time to reach the Krishna River during Pushkaralu, but those coming by air are going to get a ceremonial welcome along with a shower of the Krishna water as soon as they descend on the Vijayawada Airport.

Airport authorities have made arrangements at the terminal so that visitors, particularly VVIPs and VIPs from various parts of the country, are given a touch of local tradition.

According to Airport director G. Madhusudhana Rao, the terminal has been given an attractive and traditional look apart from other facilities to attract the visitors coming from across the country.

“Girls clad in saris will be welcoming the guests by sprinkling rose water and water of the Krishna for which we have roped in students of nearby colleges,” he said.
While Air India is looking forward for full occupancy in normal services, regional airliner Air Costa will be offering four extra services. Another airliner TruJet which suspended services long ago resumed on Tuesday to cater to festival rush.
