TRS MP Kavitha proposes airport in Nizamabad

TRS MP from Nizamabad, K Kavitha has put forth a proposal to the Central government regarding the construction of an airport in the district.

She met Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapati Raju in New Delhi on Thursday.

According to the signed between GMR and then state government, no other airport within a radius of 150km from Shamshabad should be used for 'civilian and commercial' purposes which resulted in commercial air traffic coming to an end at the Begumpet Old Airport.
With Rajiv Gandhi International Airport located at Shamshabad in Ranga Reddy district, the state government has realized the need an importance of another airport.

The TRS MP requested the Minister to direct the corresponding officials, to conduct a comprehensive study on various factors to determine whether the site in Jakranpalli of Nizamabad is suitable for the construction of the airport.
