Air India passengers stranded overnight at Varanasi airport due to technical glitch

Varanasi: The air passengers to Sharjah remain stranded overnight at the terminal building of Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Babatpur on Monday night Owing to the technical snag in the engine of the aircraft of Varanasi-Sharjah flight (IX-183) of Air India. The passengers could be accommodated to different hotels in the city on Tuesday morning. The flight, which was to take off at 5pm on Monday, was rescheduled at 8pm on Tuesday.

According to reports, already delayed for six hours the aircraft carrying 184 passengers went to the runway to take off at 12.30am on Monday night. After detecting some snag in the engine the pilot contacted the air traffic control (ATC) and took the aircraft back to the apron. The passengers were asked to wait at the terminal building until the repairing of the engine.
As most of the shops at the terminal building were closed in late night, the passengers remained high and dry, and they created ruckus at the terminal building. The airline management had to face the ire of annoyed passengers while convincing them. They were shifted to different hotels in the morning.
