Chennai: The officials of the Chennai airport briefed that the main runway of the airport will not attend flights for a time bracket of six hours daily in order to speed up the ongoing infrastructure work at the Chennai airport. The official also informed that the situation at the airport will be continued till the month of October.
The closure of the main runway of the airport, for the time being, won’t affect the flight services at the airport as the secondary runway is equipped in order to handle the flight traffic.
As per the reports, the main runway of the Chennai airport would not attend the flight traffic from 12 pm to 6 pm till October and the following months it will be closed from 10 am to 6 pm. The construction work on the airport has been initiated from Sunday and will include construction of new taxiways and strengthening of an existing taxiway which after completion will make aircraft to take off at a higher speed than the usual.
