Why are flights so regularly irregular?

Geostrategic developments, grounding of aircraft fleet and congestion at Mumbai airport is causing delay in arrivals and departures of flights at Ahmedabad airport in the last few months. Certain airlines have been more affected than others due to these reasons.
 Thanks to grounding of Boeing 737 worldwide after international accidents, SpiceJet has grounded its fleet. Closure of airspace over Pakistan after the Balakot airstrikes by IAF has increased travel distance from India to destinations in the Middle East and vice versa, causing a delay of an hour in all flights.
Suspension of operations by Jet Airways last month has led to other airlines rushing in to capture its routes. Going by the number of delays reported, SpiceJet has been most affected in the last four days. It’s direct flight on Ahmedabad-Dubai route are regularly delayed. On Tuesday, nine flights of SpiceJet were delayed. Spice-Jet flights from Bagdogra, Patna, Chennai and Bengaluru were late on Tuesday by 1to 6 hours.
On Monday, 10 of its flights were delayed. Commenting on the delays, Spice-Jet said in a statement, “The world-wide grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in March this year had direct impact on SpiceJet’s operations. Overnight, our fleet was reduced by 13 planes as our entire MAX fleet was grounded.
