Feasibility study of airport at Hosur: Govt floats tender

Krishnagiri: The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCO) has floated a tender, inviting consultants to study the feasibility of setting up an airport at Hosur.

It would be the responsibility of consultants to assess the demand, undertake air traffic forecasting and identify potential sites for setting up the airport.

Interested consultants could get the proposal document from TIDCO on all working days till January 28, 2022, between 11am and 5pm by submitting a demand draft for Rs 15,000 that is drawn in favour of Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Limited, payable at Chennai.

There is also an option to download the form on www.tidco.com and https://tntenders.gov.in and the payment should be made while submitting the proposal.

“Pre-bid meeting will be conducted on January 11, 2022, at 3.30pm. The last date for submission of bids is on or before 3pm on January 31 when the opening of technical bids will be conducted at 3.30 pm at TIDCO office,” said a TIDCO official.

The local residents and industrialists, meanwhile, welcomed the state government’s move.

K Rajarathinam, an industrialist, said the airport would boost the development of the city. “The industrial units in Hosur town often receive delegates from abroad. They are now forced to travel to Bengaluru or Chennai to fetch or drop them. After setting up the airport, the Airport Authority of India should consider operating international flights to and from Hosur.”
