Name airport after former ruler: MP

JAIPUR: Jaipur MP Girdhari Lal Bhargav has demanded that the Sanganer airport which is being developed as an international airport be named after erstwhile ruler Sawai Man Singh.
Bhargav said the Sanganer airport was founded by the late maharaja who was himself an aviator in 1930 and the city was air-linked largely because of his efforts.
Bhargav added the airport is undergoing a lot of changes and naming the new international airport after the former ruler would be fitting tribute to him. The maharaja was instrumental in starting commercial flights from Jaipur and was also the man behind the state's first and only flying club which still runs from the Sanganer airport.
The MP has written to Union civil aviation minister Prafulla Patel. He said the Udaipur airport which was renovated at a cost of Rs 70 crore recently was named after Maharana Pratap.
